Xuhong Ye (University of Padova), "The Unified Scenario of Accretions and Jet Physics: Blazars and Radio Galaxies"
Radio galaxies (RGs) and blazars are two subclasses of active galactic nuclei (AGNs). RGs are morphologically divided into Fanaroff–Riley types 0, I, and II, and spectroscopically into low- and high-excitation RGs (LERGs and HERGs), while blazars include BL Lac objects and flat-spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs). In this study, we investigated their accretion, jet formations, and radiation properties, revealing compelling similarities between LERGs–BL Lacs and HERGs–FSRQs. We proposed a two-family accretion–ejection unification scheme: BL Lacs and LERGs share inefficient ADAF accretion, BZ-type jet launching, and SSC-dominated emission, whereas FSRQs and HERGs exhibit efficient standard discs, BP/BP–BZ jets, and EC-dominated emission. This framework places accretion physics in an important role of AGN unification, and suggests that high-synchrotron-peaked BL Lacs may represent the beamed counterparts of FR 0s. We further discussed the SED of potential gamma-ray FR 0 candidates with the Fermi and CTAO sensitivities based on the unified scenario.
