East Asia to Italy: Nearly Global VLBI – 2025 Workshop
Bologna, CNR Research area, 27 october 2025
Organized by INAF Istituto di Radioastronomia
Description:
We are glad to announce a new edition of the East Asia to Italy: Nearly Global VLBI workshop, to be held in Bologna, Italy, on Monday, October 27, 2025. This meeting continues the tradition of previous successful gatherings in 2012, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023, providing a dedicated forum to strengthen collaboration between East Asian and Italian radio astronomy communities.
This one-day event is conveniently scheduled just before the larger conference “Towards High-Performance mm-VLBI Science Operations with Multi-Band Receivers” (taking place in Bologna from October 28–31, 2025), with the intent to facilitate travel and maximize participation across both events. The workshop will focus on recent scientific results and a forward-looking discussion on new technological advancements across Italian and East Asian VLBI facilities. These include innovations in receiver systems, array upgrades, and operational strategies that are shaping the future of nearly global VLBI.
Registration and abstract submission:
Registration and abstract submission for contributed talks will be open until September 1st, 2025, via this online form. Please note that there is no registration fee for this meeting. A group dinner will be hosted by the organizers on Monday evening.
Venue and logistics
The workshop venue will be at the CNR Research Area in Bologna, room TBC (main hall, first floor). Please note that the Institute of Radioastronomy (IRA-INAF) is also hosted in the same Research Area.
