Cosmology
The study of the global properties of the Universe still raises numerous fundamental questions: from its geometry and composition to the laws governing its expansion, to the origin and evolution of cosmic structures, the diffuse medium, and gravitationally bound systems.
Cosmological research at the IRA develops on multiple fronts—experimental, observational, and theoretical—with a strong commitment to the study, even combined, of cosmological surveys and the cosmic microwave background at different frequencies.
The goal is to understand the large-scale structure of the Universe and its evolutionary phases, including its thermal and ionization history, from the very beginning to the epoch of reionization.
