Siyanda Matika (Rhodes University), "Closure phase analysis of Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Array data"
The redshifted 21 cm line is the most promising probe of cosmic reionization and the preceding cosmic dawn - i.e. when the first luminous structures formed. Its observation motivated the construction of several low frequencies radio interferometers including the Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Array (HERA), located at the South African Square Kilometre Array site. In this talk I will describe how interferometric closure phases are a promising approach to detect the 21 cm in HERA data and present some preliminary results from the first season of HERA observations.
