Anna Bonaldi (SKA Observatory, Jodrell Bank, Macclesfield (UK)), "The latest on the SKA Observatory and the Tiered Radio Extragalactic Continuum Simulation (T-RECS)"
In this talk I will give an update on the status of the construction of the SKA Observatory, and the updated timeline for science and how we could prepare for our observations. I will then talk about my research, which revolves around simulating the extragalactic radio sky with the Tiered Radio Extragalactic Continuum simulation (T-RECS) code. This publicly available code (Bonaldi et al. 2021, 23) now allows to simulate the extragalactic radio sky in both radio continuum and HI, as well as their cross-correlation. T-RECS has been used, beyond other things, to generate mock SKA data for the SKAO’s science data challenges, one of the science preparatory activities run by SKAO to get ready to reduce the SKA data.
