Alessandra Zanichelli (INAF-IRA Bologna), "Introducing the INAF Radio Telescopes Data Archive"
In the Big Data era, the amount and complexity of astronomical data more and more often prevents the scientist from locally store and process her/his data. This change of paradigm is rapidly affecting also the INAF radio telescopes, that have in recent years been equipped with new generation digital instrumentation. The huge amount of significantly complex and resource-demanding datasets being produced by the INAF dishes at Medicina, Noto and the SRT as well as the variety of use cases from the different observing modes represent an ideal case for a geographically distributed approach to data archiving. In this talk I will present the new INAF Radio Data Archive, realized in collaboration with the INAF Astronomical Archive Centre IA2, and I will illustrate its main features, scientific content and future perspectives. The coordinated approach and harmonization of resources at the basis of this project aims at maximizing the return for the Italian radio observing facilities and paves the way for a state-of-the-art, highly-performant environment in which to conduct successful science.
